Beach Day

One of Daddy/Daughter Fun Time’s oldest and bestest friends is Melissa. Her unreasonable and ill-advised early encouragement is largely why you are reading this. (Don’t blame me…)

Melissa is the mother at school who organizes everything, is the fire behind the PTA, and generally makes every other parent feel like a slacker. We love/hate her.

And, by that, we total love her. (Plus, she’s kinda cute.)

The other day, Melissa organized a Beach Day in Santa Monica among several schools, YMCAs, and, apparently, lots of Super Model agencies.

Melissa’s call resulted in about 200 people on the beach (which, in LA traffic, is quite an accomplishment.) There’re about 60 Moms, a couple Dads, and about a hundred kids.

Surveying the unexpected crowd, Melissa says to me:

Melissa: Wow. 60 or 70 mothers and just a few Dads. You must feel outnumbered.

Me: Yeah… Dozens of beautiful women in skin-tight bathing suits and bikinis splashing in the ocean? I think I will suffer, but I’m pretty sure I’ll survive. Check back later… Now, if only we can get rid of the kids.
