Obamacare.

I have remained (surprisingly) quiet about the Shutdown, considering that I give a crap about politics. And, most of you know I have opinions.

My therapist tells me that I have acute-impulse-control issues. Which is funny, because, I really don’t actually have a therapist. Still… The issues remain.

First point: The Affordable Care Act was approved by the House of Representatives in 2009.

Second point: The Senate approved the Affordable Care Act in 2009.

Third point: The President signed the Affordable Care Act into Law in 2010.

Fourth point: The United States Supreme Court held that the Affordable Care Law was Constitutional in 2012.

Fifth point: It is the Law of the Land. It is the Law. Actually, the Law. Plain and simple. Yes, it is. Law.

On the Shutdown:

Why are House Republicans trying to negotiate to change a law from four years ago at the last second?

Ok. I understand current Republicans don’t like it. (Though they couldn’t muster the votes in 2009).

But, the negotiations were FOUR years ago. THAT was the time to fight. Not now. Not today. Open the Parks, Open the Museums, Let Cancer Drugs Be Tested, Let NASA search the Skies.

Try to fix or amend or alter the bill if you like. I salute your efforts. But only, during a regular session of Congress. Not during this hostage taking.

Wow, I said more than I thought. Flames expected.

  1. Amen & amen! I’m burying my head in the sand because otherwise I would explode – and my husband is exploding enough for the both of us. It’s just insane. It really is. I think those guys really need your imaginary therapist!

  2. When I was a kid my uncle called me Danabug. I thought I’d be anonymous when I first started blogging so I became “The Bug.” Being anonymous lasted about a minute – ha! But I decided to keep being the Bug anyway.

    • Ok… So do I call you Dana our Bug? ’cause I’m always gonna call you The Bug. Like my girls will always be Squirrel and Bubbles. (though I frequently get them mixed up.)
